Zhenzhen was our Toastmaster for our last meeting with a mouthwateringtheme, introducing all speakers with their favourite food. She was helped by our timer Marieke and grammarian Siobhán who introduced “to savour” as the word of the day.Aga delivered her icebreaker speech with the title “What’s in the Box”. Using the metaphor of “the box” she delivered a very personal and powerful speech of why she has joined Toastmasters.
Dani delivered her second project from the innovative planning path. She reflected on feedback she has received for her previous speeches, giving us some great tips for public speaking along the way including; to stand straight, to speak loudly and to slow down.
The speeches were evaluated by myself and Helen respectively. Jane led a great Table Topics session starting off with some Table Topic Tips, speaking from her experience as a winning Table Topics speaker at the Divisional level. Participants discussed why a cancelled flight is actually great, favourite animals, cocaine smuggling relatives and fake engagement rings.
The Table Topics were then evaluated by Katri. I won the award for Best Evaluator and our guest Paula the award for best Table Topics speaker. It was great to see so many guests at the meeting, we hope you enjoyed it, and a special thanks to our guest Kasia who was our general evaluator for the night.
